Terms of Service
The terms that govern your use of the LessonSlate website and LessonSlate Studio.
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the LessonSlate website at https://lessonslate.com (the "Site") and the LessonSlate Studio software ("Studio"), together the "Service," operated by Revsol LLC ("LessonSlate," "we," "us," or "our"). By using the Site or purchasing or using Studio, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. About the Service
The Site is a marketing website that (a) provides free access to educational videos produced by LessonSlate ("LessonSlate Videos"), and (b) offers the LessonSlate Studio software for purchase. Studio lets purchasers generate their own educational videos.
2. Free LessonSlate Videos
LessonSlate Videos are made available for free viewing, including on the LessonSlate YouTube channel. LessonSlate owns or licenses all rights in the LessonSlate Videos. You may watch and share links to them for personal, non-commercial, educational use. You may not download, copy, redistribute, resell, or create derivative works from LessonSlate Videos except as expressly permitted by us or allowed by the platform on which they are hosted (for example, standard YouTube embedding).
3. LessonSlate Studio license
Subject to your payment of applicable fees and compliance with these Terms, LessonSlate grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use Studio to generate educational videos for your own personal, educational, or commercial use, in accordance with the plan you purchase. Studio is licensed on a subscription basis; your access continues for the duration of your active subscription and is subject to any usage limits described in your plan.
You may not: sublicense, resell, rent, or redistribute Studio itself; reverse engineer or attempt to extract its source code or underlying models; remove proprietary notices; or use Studio to build a competing product. LessonSlate, its software, models, design, and branding remain our exclusive property.
4. Ownership of videos you generate with Studio
Videos you generate using Studio are yours. LessonSlate claims no ownership of the educational videos you create with Studio ("Your Videos"). As between you and LessonSlate, you own Your Videos, subject to (a) our continuing ownership of Studio and its underlying software and models, and (b) your compliance with these Terms.
You are solely responsible for Your Videos, including their content, accuracy, and how you publish, distribute, or monetize them. LessonSlate does not host, review, or claim any license to Your Videos.
5. Your responsibilities
When you use Studio and publish Your Videos, you agree that you:
- have all rights necessary to the inputs you provide and the outputs you distribute;
- will comply with all applicable laws and with the terms of any platform you upload to, including, if you upload to YouTube, the YouTube Terms of Service (https://www.youtube.com/t/terms) and YouTube's Community Guidelines and spam/authenticity policies;
- will not use Studio to generate or distribute unlawful, infringing, deceptive, hateful, or otherwise objectionable content; and
- will not attempt to circumvent usage limits or platform policies, including by artificially inflating activity or exceeding API quotas.
6. Purchases, fees, and refunds
Studio pricing and plan details are described at https://lessonslate.com/pricing.html. Payments are processed by our third-party payment provider, Stripe; your purchase is also subject to their terms. Fees are non-refundable except as required by law. We may change pricing prospectively with notice; changes do not affect purchases already made.
7. AI-generated content
Studio produces videos using automated AI systems, and outputs may contain errors, inaccuracies, or omissions, including in scientific, mathematical, and factual content. LessonSlate does not warrant that generated content is accurate, complete, or fit for any particular educational purpose. You are responsible for reviewing Your Videos before relying on, publishing, or distributing them.
8. LessonSlate's own YouTube publishing
Separately from your use of Studio, LessonSlate uses YouTube API Services with its own account to publish LessonSlate Videos to the LessonSlate channel, as described in our Privacy Policy. This does not involve your data or your account.
9. Intellectual property
The Service — including Studio, its software and models, the Site, and the "LessonSlate" name and logos — is owned by LessonSlate and protected by intellectual property laws. Except for the limited licenses expressly granted in these Terms, we reserve all rights. YouTube and other third-party marks are the property of their respective owners.
10. Disclaimers
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, and accuracy. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free, or that generated content will be accurate or reliable.
11. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, LessonSlate and its suppliers will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising out of or related to the Service or Your Videos. Our total liability for any claim will not exceed the amount you paid us for Studio in the 12 months before the claim, or USD $100 if you paid nothing.
12. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless LessonSlate from any claims, damages, liabilities, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of Your Videos, your use of Studio, or your violation of these Terms, applicable law, or any third-party rights or platform terms (including YouTube's).
13. Termination
Your license to use Studio continues for the term you purchased unless terminated. We may suspend or terminate your license if you materially violate these Terms. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination — including ownership, disclaimers, limitation of liability, and indemnification — will survive. Termination of your Studio license does not affect your ownership of Your Videos already generated.
14. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of Texas, USA, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules.
15. Changes to these Terms
We may modify these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date and, where appropriate, provide notice. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
